Bagru printing is an indigenous, eco-friendly craft practiced by the traditional Chippa community in the historic town of Bagru, located just outside Jaipur, Rajasthan. Unlike chemical printing, authentic Bagru textiles rely on carved wooden blocks, mud-resist paste (Dabu), and pure botanical colors derived from roots, flowers, and minerals.

Every metre of fabric undergoes an intensive, weeks-long journey through human hands, nature, and pure traditional wisdom.

Artisans meticulously chisel intricate floral and geometric motifs onto seasoned Sheesham hardwood blocks.

Harda Scouring

Unbleached cotton base is washed and treated in Harda fruit solution to impart a natural yellow tint and dye receptivity.

Hand Block Stamping

Master printers stamp rekh (outlines) and gad (fillers) with pinpoint accuracy onto long padded wooden printing tables.

Dabu Mud Resist & Dyeing

Clay and sawdust paste is stamped over patterns, dried in sand, and immersed in deep cold natural indigo or alizarin vats.

River Wash & Sun Cure

Fabrics are vigorously rinsed in running water to peel away the resist mud, then spread on open sandy riverbeds to cure in natural sunlight.
